Description

Red lentils (without skin) are a popular component of the Ayurvedic diet, as they have a short cooking time. In their raw state, the pulses have a purple to brown outer skin, with the red core only becoming visible after the hulling process. They break down easily when cooked, which makes them ideal for preparing smooth dals, soups or stews.

Preparation:
Wash 250 g lentils, bring to the boil with 500 ml of water (lightly salted if desired) and cook for approximately 10–15 minutes. Season to taste.
