Description
Until the late Middle Ages the coveted Myristicin containing nuts and flowers only came to Europe through Arab traders. With the discovery of the sea route to India, nutmeg, better said one of the nutmeg seeds, was one of the most important trade goods for the Portuguese and later the Dutch. It was estimated that nutmeg was as a universal remedy and strengthening tonic.
