Sinapis alba

Mustard is used both fresh and dried and are then crushed and ground. Mustard seeds are extremely versatile: they season meat, sausage, game and fish marinades, as well as pickles and herring. Milled grains are excellent additions for hot sauces and soups as well as pumpkin dishes.

The mustard plant is originally native to Europe and the Mediterranean. It is now grown mainly in China, France, Germany and North America.
