Description
Rioja Gran Reserva is a category of wines that is somewhat rare. This is due to the fact that the wines require very long maturation periods and are correspondingly expensive to produce.
But once you have mastered the craft, like the Montana family, these wines belong to the top echelons of Spanish red wines and at a very attractive price.
The nose reveals aromas of toasting, light spice, fine mineral notes and berry flavours, plus a hint of vanilla. Such a complex nose is not unusual for a Gran Reserva Rioja.
Very dense and multi-layered on the palate, lively acidity, very soft, ripe tannins and ripe, very recognisable Tempranillo grapes. A truly beautiful Rioja that is a rare pleasure once allowed to breathe. It has many good years ahead of it.
